It’s just last time I talked to my mom about this, she kept saying “But are you sure?“ and ”Can’t they just be friends, [insert my name]?“ even though I’ve sent her a link to one of my more anthem of posts, ”I Don’t Think I Could…

See, I went into supernatural as a completely non-biased fan because I kept hearing about it. I knew there was a specific angel named castiel that would appear in season 4. And I knew that a lot of people shipped said castiel and dean but I went through it with an open mind.

When castiel appeared, I thought to myself, ‘this is the first few scenes, and I can already sense a profound bond between these two.’ As I went on in the series, I could sense a little hint of subtextual tension. I could see that they, in fact, did clearly have certain bonds with each other (subtextually speaking).

Right around the end of the apocalypse arc, I could definitely see it.

Now, I wasn’t watching the show weekly because I just started watching it last year, so the scenes were fresh in my mind.

And now that I am caught up, I see that the subtext is becoming more apparent, and even said in the actual lines of the show.

If dean and cas’s relationship was strictly platonic, then explain this: would you take your assumed-to-be-dead bro’s tattered, filthy coat and fix it up, clean it, and fold it neatly even if you saw him die in front of your eyes? Would you?

In order for someone to cherish an item as trivial as an article of clothing you have to share a unique relationship, if not romantic.

That’s my take on it, and I hope it is useful.

Destiel is an irresistible ship. Even if you don’t ship it at first, give it time, eventually you will. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
